Gordon Grades Top the Table
Although a disappointing 1st Grade loss to the top placed Easts, Gordon’s lower grades were unstoppable. All recording wins on Sunday as the Club was heading towards another clean sweep. This is a true sign of the Highlanders strength and depth with all lower grades in the top 3 positions on the ladder. Reserve grade are 1 point clear at the top of the ladder and 4th grade are a massive 6 points clear of their nearest rivals. The legendary 4th grade team includes 350 game veteran Michael “The King” Spalding and all of Wallaby Captain Stirling Mortlock’s brothers. “He’s keen for a run (Stirling), but he might have to start off the bench!” said younger brother Lincoln.
It was overall a winning day for the Club and a great opportunity for the younger Colts U21’s players to get behind their Grade teams. Gordon Colts coach Nick Hill said “There is a really good feeling around the Club and the guys just can’t wait for their next game. There is an air of confidence here that the whole Club is feeling.”
