Major Sponsor Draw - Gordon's Favourite Son to Draw the Winner
Current Wallaby Captain Stirling Mortlock will be making an appearance at the Gordon Rugby Club this Friday, 30th March.
Gordon’s favourite son is returning to the Club to draw the winner of their major sponsors draw. Stirling says “Its exciting to be part of the Launch. I’m pretty keen to catch up with some of the guys I’ve played with in the past.” One of which is the Highlanders head coach Lachlan Fear who played alongside Stirling in their Australia U19’s and 21’s teams. “It’s a rarity to see Stirling these days with all of his playing commitments. It will be great to catch up” said Fear. This may be the only chance to see the Wallaby Captain before the World Cup in France later this year.
Mortlock will be joined by ACT Brumbies Forwards coach and former Wallaby Ross Reynolds. Reynolds will complete a line-up of 4 ex-Wallabies that will be involved in an interesting Q & A session on the evening.
Mortlock will join his three brothers who all play for the Club at the Season Launch. “The Club is going well with the Kiama 7’s win and strong pre-season form. It will be good to have a chat with the players and be involved with the Club” he said.
Mortlock has returned home briefly before heading back to Canberra to start physio on his broken hand while the CA Brumbies are travelling in South Africa. He is likely to miss between four and six weeks with the injury.
The Brumbies are away for another week after downing the Sharks 21-10 on the weekend. It was a good win for the Brumbies, defeating the top of the table Sharks and breaking a 12 year hoodoo at ABSA Stadium.
Back in Chatswood the Gordon Highlanders have completed an encouraging pre season schedule after taking on Warringah last weekend. Gordon comprehensively beat the Warringah teams in all grades and will take a week off before their televised season opener against Eastwood.
The Gordon coach believes Stirling will have a positive influence on the players and all who attend the Season Launch. Food and drinks will be served from 6:30 at the Gordon Social and Recreation Club. Tickets are only $30 and are available through the Gordon Club on 9904 8688. |
